Improving the Odds with Online Roulette Strategies

No matter what anyone says, there is no guaranteed way to beat the odds in roulette. The game is determined by luck, and unless the game is biased in some way, there is an equal chance of the ball landing in any of the 37 or 38 slots. However, players can improve their odds with some clever roulette strategies.

The Set Odds

If the roulette wheel does not have any flaws or bias, then no strategy can guarantee better odds for the player to win any straight up bet. There is always an exact equal chance that the ball will land in any given spot. Players can benefit by playing European roulette instead of American roulette, as there is one fewer potential spot with the elimination of the double zero. European roulette, then, gives the player a slight edge as the house's edge is only 2.7% as opposed to the 5.26% edge in American roulette.

Making the Smart Bets

Players can work within the system, though, by making bets in line with the odds. For example, if players make bets that encompass multiple spots across the wheel, they may not make as much money, but they're more likely to make some money. Combining multiple bets, too, can improve the player's odds. A street bet or a quad bet can allow a player to cover several different combinations of numbers, leaving only a few numbers outside of the bet.

By making bets that spread out over the available options, players increase the chances that they will hit something and at least make back their bets. After that, it's all up to luck.
