Playing Roulette Online

Online roulette is not much different from its land-based counterpart in that every spin of the wheel produces an outcome based solely upon luck. Some players still choose to incorporate strategies into their gameplay if for no other reason than to keep things exciting.

The Twist Strategy

This is one of the most popular roulette strategies these days and requires players to observe the wheel for at least 38 spins--one for each pocket. The basis here is that not all of the 38 numbers will come up after 38 spins, signifying that some numbers will repeat more often than others. Hypothetically, these players feel that placing bets on the most popular numbers--or even bets that contain these numbers--is the best way to go.

The Pivot Strategy

The Pivot strategy is very similar to the twist strategy in that players will need to observe the wheel for the numbers that come up most often. In this strategy, however, players must select the most common number, known as the pivot, and bet on it a total of 35 times or until they win. After a win, the player will move on to the next most common number and proceed likewise. This strategy is based upon patterns that experts say simply do not exist.

Placing Even Bets

Regardless of the popularity of these strategies, most experts continue to teach that the best way to win at roulette is to place even bets. These include selecting red or black, even or odd, or the high or low numbers. The odds of winning are better but the payouts are much smaller, allowing players the opportunity to play roulette for a longer period of time.

Even when players decide to use a roulette strategy to increase their wins, they must always remember that roulette is a game of luck. Nothing a player can do will ever change the outcome of any spin--other than a belief in the power of Lady Luck, perhaps.
